Work in Progress

Work in Progress

30th August, 2019

We are all a work in progress, we are all on a journey to get somewhere and make something of ourselves a long the way whether that be a career or a skill we want to develop. It can be a scary thought and a long process, much like building this website. I am not technically minded despite living in the age we do. My computer skills are limited and I have never built a website before and looking at its first carnation, I'm sure you can tell. However I have trusted God in building one as a platform and a base to first announce the ministry I have been called to, in order that I can make a start on the things to come. I have listened to God and trusted Him in the fact that He has assigned a task and wants me to complete this within my life time.

If we remember the Apostle Pauls story, he was not a man of Jesus for the first part of his life but he was a work in progress. Paul was an acute student of the Jewish religious leaders of the first century A.D. Paul would have studied the works of God, the words of the prophets and Old Testament writers and the customs of God as laid down by Him (which we can study ourselves in the bible). Paul was keenly aware of God but did not understand Jesus until his famous encounter on the road to Damascus, it is at this point that he meets Jesus for the first time which we can read about in Acts 9. From this moment Paul began a journey to tell people about Jesus and see their salvation through Jesus' sacrifice and the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul had to start from a fresh beginning and study and learn the scriptures a new this time with the understanding of who Jesus was in order for him to fulfil what he was called to do by God.

In this way I am sure Paul felt intimidated by the other followers of Jesus who were actually with Him at the time of His ministry on earth, but as Paul grew in his knowledge, experience and confidence he started to do more and see a greater impact. So it is with our lives, we will worry about the goals we have whether professionally or in our personal lives, we often worry about what God has called us to be or how to live the example He has asked us show. Many of us worry how we can be that end result and in particular for me I worry of how the website looks, how it will impact your lives and will it ever look or do what I want it to (I can be a perfectionist at times).

But the main thing to remember is that we are all a work in progress, what I am today will change tomorrow, why? Because I have the capacity to meet new people and learn, or to find the relevant information and study just like Paul did. I also have Jesus with me too who will guide me on my journey so that I can continue to grow in the right way thus enabling me to achieve the goals I set, be the example I want to be and to flourish in this life I have.

So I want to encourage you as God has encouraged me as it says in Philippians 1 v 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

This was written by Paul himself, Paul had learnt that we are all a work in progress. God has started a good work in us so that we too may flourish and grow. This means that the things we have in our lives, that we have started, can progress so they too can flourish and grow. So like you I will continue to work on the website to bring new teachings, new posts of what the ministry has been doing and improving the website to bring it up to a modern standard. This won't happen overnight as there is always a process. But I can take encouragement that if I follow the process, it will happen.
