Teach a Man to Fish – Part 3
Today is Pentecost, todays give a man a fish lesson we may be focusing on the giving of the fish. Why? Well it is because you need to know what you are dealing with, looking for and living with. In this series I have been looking at teaching you how to fish as the saying goes to only give you a fish means I feed you for a day, but teaching you how to fish you can feed yourselves for a lifetime. But within this there is an important lesson, one we see manifest in the New Testament, especially when you compare it to the Old Testament.

Teach a Man to Fish - Part 2
If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, if you teach a man to fish then he will feed himself for a lifetime. So the message of part 2 is all about the importance of having your own relationship with God. We all hear it time and time again to pray, pray without ceasing, talk to God. But if that's all we do, then what are we doing?
RELATIONSHIP
The Devil will always try to disrupt your relationship with God
The devil, Lucifer, the enemy, Satan, the anti-Christ is someone we hear a lot about in Christianity simply because he is trying to disrupt the work of God and His relationship with His people. But why is this? Well simply put, it is because Lucifer is jealous of God and wants what he has. We can tell this from the early parts of the story, God ruled over all of Heaven and Lucifer was the top angel in charge of running the whole Kingdom (that's right, even above Michael and Gabriel). At one point Lucifer started to succumb to pride and think more of himself than of God. This isn't always hard to believe as history is littered with similar examples of people thinking they are better than their masters or rulers and deposing them. Lucifer was/is no different, he didn't understand why he wasn't in charge of everything seen as he practically was as he ran the whole kingdom.
RELATIONSHIP
Relationship
There are many things this post could be on, but what I want to focus on in this post is having a relationship with God.
If we look and study the bible the main thing that keeps cropping up is having relationship with God, we see this right through from Genesis to Revelation, from creation of humankind to the second coming of Christ and entering into Heaven. The bible as we know is split into two sections, effectively two covenants, the first in which we as people are given a set of guidelines to live our lives as without them we ultimately were tempted into doing things that have grave consequences for ourselves. So here we see God stepping in to try and protect us from ourselves by providing us with laws in which we are to be governed and look after ourselves as well as looking after the society we belonged to, namely the Jewish community.
