I like the word "focus" and its meaning. I was going to name the website focus because of what it represents and as I want to help people focus on Jesus. When we look at the word, the word focus means "the centre of interest or activity" or "the state or quality of having or producing clear visual distinction" and this is just the definition as a noun but when you looked at the word as a verb you see again the great meaning of the word.
In the verb the word focus means "adapt to the prevailing level of light and become able to see clearly" or "pay particular attention too". So as a ministry I wanted you to focus on the name of the organisation / movement that I am creating as directed by God. The "focus" will be there, but as I said before this will be towards Jesus through the teachings we bring, the outreach and events we will do and the lives that will be impacted along the way.
So when you look at us who do we all focus on? Well as Christians we choose to focus on Christ Jesus. Its Jesus who is the centre of our lives, Jesus who creates us and fulfils us and Jesus who provides us with a future. It is incredible to see within the meaning of the word focus that we see a perfect metaphor for being a Christian - Adapt to the prevailing level of light and become able to see clearly.
In the bible there is a verse in the book of John chapter 8 (verse 12) where Jesus says "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
The world is full of deceptive darkness which blinds our eyes and senses to the dangers around. But what we see in this verse is that if we choose to focus on Jesus, we will be able to see things in a new light and so live our lives in a positive direction making the best of every situation. This then ties in with what we will do here within the Christian Life Executive, as we know the plans God has for our lives and the command Jesus has given to love each other as He has loved us all. Our focus therefore must be on Jesus and we must do what we can to impact the world for Him, so that many too can see life in the radiance of His light within their time.
