Hello, I just wanted to take the time to provide you with details of what we have done with the money that was donated on our feed the poor appeal. During 2020 we have seen many people included ourselves impacted by the global pandemic of Covid-19. This pandemic has brought lockdown restrictions and changes to way of life in majority of countries around the world. For some this isn't an issue as they have been able to work from home and maintained their ability to earn their usual income, in other areas people haven't been as lucky and have had a period where they have stopped working.
For some of these people they can rely on their Government stepping in to provide financial support. However there are some in this world who have had their livelihoods taken away and their ability to earn money has gone, some people have been able to claim financial support in benefits but this does not cover their usual living costs, but there are places in the world that means no money no food and no work means no money as there is no benefit or governmental support system in place.
It is those last 2 groups of people that have been on my heart over the last few months, it is through the understanding of reduced income in my household and a tight budget on food and household products has made me see and realise the plight people can have in my country and in other well off nations. But it is through the requests of other people in nations less well off than ourselves that we truly see the impacts of economic situation in people's lives. Take Ebrima for example, he lives in Gambia where 48% of the population already live below the poverty line, the country is a west African nation but is not well off at all and his ability to earn money is to go to the forest to collect firewood to sell in the market. Ebrima lives with his mother and his 5 siblings, I do not know how much he earns or what the ret of the family do for an income but they live in a makeshift home and since the lockdown, they haven't been able to earn any money like they could.
Thanks to your help, we were able to bless him with funds that bought a bag of rice and hopefully keep them going for a little while. (Please see picture 1)
Here is also Pastor Irfan who has a church in Pakistan, his community have all been impacted by the pandemic and they have struggled to make it out to the market to get food. There restrictions on movement have been tough and the little income they have has not managed to go very far. I have had the opportunity recently to speak to the leadership team and congregation and offer the bread of life (teaching from Gods word) but at this time they also cry out for food. Thanks to your donations we could bless the church and Pastor Irfan managed to by food and soap, package them up and gift it to the people in his congregation. It is great to see that food is being donated but also cleaning products as we are all facing a health pandemic, this we pray keeps them fed and safe in this time. (please see picture 2-4)
My wife and I personally go to a church in the north of England and this church is situated in one of the poorest cities in the UK. The people will have been hit in various ways as I mentioned above by this pandemic, but some of the poorest families will have been hit the worse. These people will also need as much help as they can get to get through this difficult time, not only families but it could also be the homeless and down and out who are also struggling to receive support as people have kept to themselves as advised to by our Government. So now more than ever do we need to step up and be a big part of our communities, this being said we do not live in that area and are unable to do anything physically ourselves, so with your help we have donated to this specific fund, so that the people in our church community will be fed. (please see picture 5).
Not only have we donated on your behalf towards helping that community, but we have also bought some supplies of food and soap to help the people in our community. Food banks are places where the vulnerable can go to get food and toiletries so they do not go hungry and can keep clean and healthy in any time where they are facing financial difficulties. As so many people are struggling at the moment, there are more people relying on food banks to get the basics that any human needs for life and healthy living. Thanks to you who have donated we managed to get a number of things that have been requested and we donated them on behalf of the ministry so that our community too is looked after in this health and economic crisis that we face. (Please see picture 6-8)
I just want to say a personal thanks to anyone who donated, prayed and supported us during this time. The crowd funding page is still open to take more donations if you would like to provide. But on behalf of the ministry and myself, I just want to say that miracles do happen and we have been apart of some here for people, so thank you again and keep donating.
